‘Independence Day’ Sequel Gets A Title
Fox has revealed the title of its long-time-coming sequel to the film that made Will Smith a movie star nearly two decades ago. We also have the first images from the set of Independence Day Resurgence, one of the behemoth known as the Moon Tug and another of director Roland Emmerich posing with it. Also new today is the title treatment and motion title video; watch that above.
Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction. Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela Ward star.
The script was written by director-producer Emmerich, producer Dean Devlin, James Vanderbilt, James A Woods and Nicolas Wright. Harald Kloser also is producing. Ute Emmerich is the exec producer. Independence Day Resurgtence attacks theaters June 24, 2016.
