Gabriel Iglesias Lands Put Pilot Deal at ABC

Comedian Gabriel Iglesias could be headed to back to broadcast TV in all his “Fluffy” glory.

Iglesias — known to his fans as Fluffy — has reached a put pilot deal with ABC to write and star in a multi-camera comedy series, Variety has confirmed. ABC Studios will produce.

The pilot is inspired by Iglesias’ life experience, including the challenges of managing a home life during the few days he spends off the road each week. It has a working title of “The Fluffy Shop.”

Iglesias will co-write the pilot with Jay Lavender, whose credits include “The Wedding Ringer” and “The Break Up,” and Tim Doyle, who worked on “Last Man Standing.” Doyle will also serve as showrunner. Tomorrow Studios CEO Marty Adelstein and president Becky Clements will serve as executive producers along with Joe Meloche.

Iglesias previously worked with ABC on “Cristela,” appearing in several episodes of the network’s now-canceled series. He’s also working with Fuse, having signed a multiyear partnership with the network that includes the half-hour, standalone comedy docuseries “Fluffy Breaks Even!” which premiered earlier this month and airs on Thursdays.

The comedian has also starred in several stand-up comedy specials for Comedy Central and hosted “Stand-Up Revolution” for the network. Iglesias recently starred in stand-up concert comedy film “The Fluffy Movie” and co-starred in “Magic Mike” and its sequel, “Magic Mike XXL.” His other credits include voice work in “The Book of Life,” “Planes” and “The Nut Job.”

Iglesias is managed by Joe Meloche of Arsonhouse Entertainment, CAA’s Matt Blake and Steve Smooke and attorney David J. Matlof of Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof + Fishman, LLP.
