Danielle Misher to Head Marketing for Screen Gems, Sony Boss Says

Danielle Misher has been named head of marketing for Screen Gems, the Sony Pictures unit that specializes in horror pics, thrillers, comedies and other modestly budgeted films.

Misher will hold the title of executive vice president, marketing at the Culver City filmmaker, it was announced Friday by Sony Pictures Entertainment’s worldwide marketing boss Josh Greenstein. Screen Gems new saleswoman-in-chief will report to Dwight Caines, president of Domestic Theatrical Marketing for Sony.

The marketing post puts Misher in charge of creating trailers, posters, television ads and other marketing materials for Screen Gems releases. She was previously a senior VP with the same label and led campaigns for many films, including “Think Like a Man,” “The Wedding Ringer” and the “Underworld” and “Resident Evil” franchises.

“Danielle has excelled at Screen Gems, creating campaigns that are both innovative and incredibly effective,” Greenstein said in a statement. “Those first-rate instincts for understanding what resonates with audiences will be a great asset in her expanded role.”

Screen Gems prexy Clint Culpepper added his praise, saying he was “convinced that there is not a better executive out there for this position,” and adding that Misher “has already earned the deep respect of the entire executive team and of our filmmakers. I look forward to an exciting and successful partnership with her.”

Misher joined Screen Gems in 2002 as VP of publicity and was later promoted to senior VP and then expanding her role to include marketing. She previously worked at MGM as a senior publicist and began her entertainment industry career in the film publicity department at Rogers & Cowan.
