Channing Tatum didn’t pull any punches when discussing his starring role in “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” saying, “I f—ing hate that movie.”

The “Magic Mike XXL” star told Howard Stern on Tuesday, “I was pushed into doing that movie … they give you the contract and they say, ‘Three-picture deal, here you go.’ And as a young — you’re thinking, ‘Oh my god, that sounds amazing. I’m doing that!'”

But Tatum said he was reluctant to take the part after he found success with other films. “The script wasn’t any good … I watched it every morning, like, growing up,” Tatum said, “and I didn’t want to do something that I thought was 1. bad, and 2. I didn’t know if I wanted to be G.I. Joe.”

Tatum did say, however, that he was “super lucky and blessed to have been given that film.” He also touched on his role in the planned male-centric reboot of “Ghostbusters” currently in the works at Sony.

“That thing’s gotten messy,” he said. “I gotta be honest, there’s a lot of people doing a lot of things on ‘Ghostbusters.'”

The actor also said he thinks the film may be on hold, as production has already begun on Paul Feig‘s female-centered “Ghostbusters” reboot. “I think we’re in a bit of a gestation period. I mean, that’s a beloved movie by a lot of people, and then there’s a lot of people that never saw the movie.”
