Anthony Anderson Joining ‘Barbershop 3′, Reprising Role From First Film

After 13 years, Anthony Anderson is returning to Calvin’s, having signed on to appear in Barbershop 3. The Black-ish star will reprise his role as JD, the troubled ATM thief whose crimes nearly caused the closure of the titular shop in the original film. JD was arrested at the end of Barbershop, and subsequently Anderson didn’t appear in Barbershop 2.

In addition, Think Like A Man‘s Regina Hall and New Girl star Lamorne Morris are in talks to appear in the film. This continues a wave of casting hires for the production over the last week. In addition to returning stars Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Deon Cole and now Anderson, Barbershop 3 recently added Oscar award-winning rapper Common, and Nicki Minaj and Queen Latifah are also said to be in talks to appear.

The film is directed by Malcolm D. Lee from a script by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver. Cube Vision is producing through MGM, with Bob Teitel and George Tillman Jr of State Street Pictures on as lead producers.
