Wolverine and Deadpool teamed up to cheer Wrexham AFC to victory!

On Sunday, actor and Wrexham AFC co-owner Ryan Reynolds emulated one of the iconic poses that Hugh Jackman does while portraying the iconic clawed hero Wolverine after the Welsh soccer club beat Shrewsbury Town FC 1-0.

The Wrexham-Shrewsbury game was a third-round match in the Football Association Challenge Cup, or FA Cup, so — as Jackman phrased it in an Instagram post — the win is “huge.”

Alongside a photo of Reynolds, 47, Jackman, 55, wrote, “HUGE!! ROUND 4,” and tagged Wrexham AFC as well as Reynolds, co-owner Rob McElhenney and Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively.

Prior to the club’s victory, Reynolds also shared a photo of the Deadpool 3 costars on the edge of their seats while watching the matchup.

In the caption, Reynolds referenced one of Jackman’s other — non-superhero — projects, Les Misérables.

“Watching @wrexham_afc in the @emiratesfacup with Prisoner 24601,” he wrote, a reference to Jean Valjean, the actor’s character in the 2012 film.

In August 2023, Reynolds joked that Jackman had taken on a made-up role at Wrexham AFC after The Greatest Showman star came to watch one of the club’s matches.

“Epic opening day at @wrexham_afc. The @mkdonsfc played like heroes,” Reynolds wrote on Instagram after the team’s 5-3 defeat against Milton Keynes Dons FC before taking a faux jab at his fellow on-screen superhero.

“Big thanks to @thehughjackman for his first and last day as ‘Admiral Vice Football Operations Ombudsman’ because I just found out you made the f------ title up. ⚔️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿⚔️,” he jokingly added.
