Ryan Gosling and Kristen Wiig are Headed to ‘Saturday Night Live’ in April

Saturday Night Live has set its schedule for early April, enlisting Ryan Gosling and former cast member Kristen Wiig as hosts.

Wiig will host the April 6 show, with celebrated London-born singer-songwriter Raye set to make her SNL debut as the musical guest. Gosling will helm the April 13 show with country star Chris Stapleton returning for his third appearance and first since 2018. (Stapleton marked the occasion on X with a little Barbie nod, writing, “I’m just Chris.”)

Wiig — who’s set to star in the upcoming AppleTV+ comedy Palm Royale — will officially join the fabled SNL “five-timers club” when she returns as host next month. She last hosted in December 2020 and, of course, cemented her place as an SNL great during her run on the show between 2005 and 2012. Along with returning to host numerous times, she’s made several cameos over the years, including just this past December for a holiday reunion with Kate McKinnon and Maya Rudolph.

Gosling will be hosting SNL for the third time, and first since 2017. And believe it or not, he’s officially done with the Barbie era and has a totally new movie to promote (though we feel pretty comfortable guessing there’ll be some kind of Ken-centric material worked into the show anyway). That new movie, The Fall Guy, is an action comedy co-starring Emily Blunt and written/directed by David Leitch; it just premiered at South by Southwest and will get a wide release on May 3.

As for the two musical guests, Raye is coming off a big 2023 behind the strength of her debut album, My 21st Century Blues. The album was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, one of the U.K.’s top music awards, and earlier this month Raye made history at the Brit Awards, becoming the first artist to take home six awards in a night (the previous record of four was shared by Harry Styles, Adele, and Blur).

Meanwhile, Stapleton just released his fifth studio album, Higher, last November. He’s set to kick off the next North American leg of his massive All American Road Show Tour in April, with dates scheduled all the way through August (and a U.K./Ireland tour to follow in October).
