Ryan Castro is giving back to his beloved Bogotá on his new album. On Thursday night, the musician released his LP El Cantante del Ghetto, a tribute to his Colombian roots, fusing his signature reggaeton style with salsa, dancehall, and “everything that shaped me.”

The 18-track album features already-massive hits such as “Ghetto Star” with Coque and the Peso Pluma collaboration “Quema,” which they performed together at Coachella. The LP also includes songs with Jowell & Randy, Arcángel, Rich the Kid, and Blessd.

“We are already out with my album, thanks for the support and thank you for waiting. We worked on it with a lot of love for you and I know you are going to like it a lot,” he wrote on Instagram. “I called up all my parceros, called up la chimbita.”

“This weekend, ask for the songs at the club. I swear that the songs will not fail you on the dancefloor, thank you for everything from the bottom of my heart, this album is for you and for you!” he added.

In his post celebrating the album’s release, he also promised that the first stop of his show will be back home at Bogotá’s Movistar Arena.

April cover star Peso Pluma chose Castro to be part of Rolling Stone’s Future 25, which highlights 25 of the most promising artists in music. In his Rolling Stone feature, the musician reminisced on his early days busking on the streets and in buses. “I’ve always been set on what I wanted,” he said. “I want to carry it forever so I don’t forget where I come from.”

El Cantante del Ghetto marks Castro’s third album, following 2022’s Los Piratas, a collaborative record with SOG, and Reggaetonea, which included standout “Mujeriego.”
