“Schitt’s Creek” star Dan Levy is set to make his feature directorial debut for Netflix with a film called “Good Grief” and has set a cast to star alongside him that includes Ruth Negga, Luke Evans and Himesh Patel.

Also co-starring in the film are Celia Imrie, Arnaud Valois, David Bradley and Jamael Westman.

In “Good Grief,” Levy stars as Marc Dreyfus, who chose to distract himself from the loss of his mom with a comfortable marriage. But when his husband also dies, unexpectedly, Marc is forced to finally confront the grief he’s tried so hard to avoid, sending him and his two closest friends on a Parisian weekend of self discovery. Levy also wrote the script.

“’Good Grief’ is a cautionary tale about friendship and loss and all the mess that comes with it when the truth is something you’ve evaded for most of your life,” Levy said in a statement. “It’s funny, it’s bittersweet, it’s a project that has helped me work through my own grief. And I hope it does the same for other people as well.

“Good Grief” is the first project as part of a film and TV deal Levy’s banner Not A Real Production Company signed back in September 2021. Producing for Not a Real Production Company are Levy and Megan Zehmer alongside Sister’s Stacey Snider, Kate Fenske and Debra Hayward.

Ruth Negga is reuniting with Netflix after starring in its drama “Passing” last year. She’s also an Oscar nominee for “Loving.” Luke Evans currently stars in the action thriller “Echo 3” and is well known for his role in “Beauty and the Beast.” Patel recently starred on the HBO Max limited series “Station Eleven” and is also known for his starring role in the musical comedy “Yesterday.”

Levy is represented by WME, MGMT Entertainment and Morris Yorn. Ruth Negga is represented by Markham, Froggatt & Irwin in the UK then CAA, Principal Entertainment and Narrative in the US. Evans is represented by CAA, United Agents and Anonymous Content. Imrie is represented by Buchwald, Magnolia Entertainment, United Agents in the UK and Personal PR.
