Rutgers unveils awesome all-black alternate uniforms for Maryland game (Photos)
Rutgers will wear special alternate uniforms when it faces Maryland at Yankee Stadium in New York City on Nov. 4.
The all-black Adidas combination, known as “Stadium Lights,” is “inspired by the symbolism of Rutgers’ mascot” and “embodies the honor, tradition and folklore behind legendary knights, their armor and their code or arms.”
The silver “Rutgers” on the front represents the polished armor of a knight’s suit. The uniform also features the outline of the state of New Jersey above the name plate to display state pride and is topped off by a matte black helmet with a silver Scarlet Knight graphic.

Altogether, it’s a really sharp setup. Take a look, y’all:

The uniforms will make their debut in a cool environment. The Yankee Stadium game is officially a home game for Rutgers as it was originally scheduled for High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway. It will be coupled with a wrestling match, too, making for a pretty fun day for the two fanbases.
Rutgers has played three recent games at the new Yankee Stadium, a regular season win over Army in 2011 and twice in the Pinstripe Bowl in 2011 (a win over Iowa State) and 2013 (a loss to Notre Dame). Overall, the program has played 12 games at Yankee Stadium dating back to 1926.
Since the Scarlet Knights and Terps joined the Big Ten in 2014, they have split their two conference games. Rutgers won in 2014 and Maryland got revenge in 2015. Both programs are entering their second seasons under a new coach. Rutgers was 2-10 without a Big Ten win in year one under Chris Ash. Maryland fared a little better, going 6-7 in D.J. Durkin’s first season.
