Hutchins died in October 2021 after a prop gun was discharged on set.

A lone ranger traverses the region and Frances Fisher makes an entrance in first look photos of Rust, director Joel Souza's controversial western, lensed by the late cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The first images of the film starring Alec Baldwin have arrived three years after Hutchins' untimely death on the New Mexico set in October 2021. The other photos, one featuring star Patrick Scott McDermott, were lensed by Bianca Cline, who replaced Hutchins when filming resumed in Montana last spring.

The first two images below come from the vision of Hutchins.

Set in 1880s Kansas, Rust revolves around a 13-year-old boy left to fend for himself and his younger brother after the death of their parents. He soon finds himself on the run with his estranged grandfather (Baldwin) after he's sentenced to hang for the accidental killing of a local rancher. The western also stars Travis Fimmel, Jensen Ackles, and Devon Werkheiser.

Hutchins' widower Matthew Hutchins is an executive producer on the film, a title that came after he and his late wife's family reached a settlement with Baldwin and other producers in their wrongful death lawsuit. Halyna Hutchins died in an accidental shooting after Baldwin's prop gun discharged at the Bonanza Creek Ranch during production. Souza was also injured but recovered. The actor has maintained that he did not discharge the prop gun.

More than a half dozen individuals, including production crew, have filed lawsuits against Baldwin and production as a result of the shooting, citing negligence on set and sparking conversations about the use of weapons on Hollywood sets. Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were both charged with involuntary manslaughter, though the charges were dropped against Baldwin last year and he could still face criminal charges as prosecutors convene a grand jury.

The film does not have a release date yet.
