A film starring Russell Peters will be the first project under a new $100 million, five-year, 10-picture production deal between Beacon Media and Daljit DJ Parmar’s Parmar Entertainment.

The new partnership will focus on action and comedy projects in the $10 million to $25 million range, with full financing from Beacon Media. The agreement also includes a seven-figure development fund in order to source and foster new projects.

Peters’ film is set to be written by Erik Olsen (“Floyd”), who will also produce alongside Parmar, Beacon Media co-founders Manoj Narender Madnani and Gurpreet Chandhoke as well as Navid McIlhargey. Executive producers include Peters, Clayton Peters, Paul Canterna, Rolando Zubiran, Luke Beermann, Pratik Tiki Patel and Ben C. Silverman.

“This new partnership will allow us to finance marquee projects that amplify much-needed diversity on the big screen in Hollywood,” Parmar said in a statement. “Every 10 years or so, we’ll get a ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ or ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once,’ and now is the time to dedicate a mainstream focus to develop and finance projects with this potential.”

Madnani said, “Beacon Media weaves cultural threads into enchanting narratives. Together with Parmar Entertainment, we are committed to creating original content worldwide, responding to the growing demand for content that resonates both locally and globally.”

“We are excited to partner with Daljit as we share the same vision to bridge cultures with the power of cinema,” Chandhoke added.

Parmar’s debut film, 2017’s “Kung Fu Yoga,” starred Jackie Chan and grossed over $250 million at the box office. At the moment, he is in production on the Indian remake of “Rambo,” starring Tiger Shroff. Co-founded by Deepak Chopra, Beacon Media is currently developing a film and TV state based on his bestselling books.

Peters is repped by CPI Management, Seven Summits Management, United Talent Agency and attorney Dale de la Torre. Olsen and McIlhargey are represented by Tifanie Acosta at Entertainment Law Partners.
