Rupert Grint says he saw 'a spark' between these two 'Harry Potter' co-stars

Rupert Grint is chiming in on the chummy relationship between his "Harry Potter" co-stars Emma Watson and Tom Felton.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 31-year-old actor said Watson (who played the love interest Hermione Granger to his Ron Weasley) may actually have eyes for Felton, who played nemesis Draco Malfoy.

When asked if he could ever see his co-stars dating, he responded, "Yeah, I could. There was always something. There was a little bit of a spark."

He continued, "I don't want to start anything ... but we were kids. It was like any kind of playground romance."

As for himself, Grint says he was "spark-free" while filming the franchise.

Watson, 29, made headlines earlier this month for putting a new spin on the term "single."

“I never believed the whole ‘I’m happy single’ spiel,” she told British Vogue. “I was like, ‘This is totally spiel.’ It took me a long time, but I’m very happy (being single). I call it being self-partnered.”

Felton later praised Watson's new label.

The actor, 32, expressed admiration toward his fellow "Potter" star and seconded Watson's move of identifying as "self-partnered."

"I like it! It’s the first I’ve heard of it, but it’s great. I’m in the same category, to be honest with you, quite happily self-partnered," he told the Daily Mail.

He added he thinks people need to love themselves before they're able to love anyone else.

"I think in this day and age it’s not a necessity to be with someone just for the sake of being with someone, so I like the idea of self-partnering," Felton said.

Felton shared a photo on Instagram in August of him and Watson hanging out and playing guitar in South Africa.

"She’s an incredibly smart and lovely young lady, so it’s always nice to bump into each other and slightly reminisce about old times but also about looking forward to the future," he added.

What's fueling fans' speculation about the stars dating? Beside the pajama-filled Instagram, a 2012 interview on "The Jonathan Ross Show," where Watson admitted to having a crush on Felton.

"Between sort of the ages of 10 and 12, I had a really terrible crush on Tom Felton," she admitted. "We love a bad guy, and he was a few years older and he had a skateboard."

Her relationship with Grint and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), however, was "pure friendship," she said.
