“RuPaul's Drag Race” Winner Jimbo Wants to 'Push Expectations' with Her Wild “Circus World Tour” (Exclusive)

"I definitely have envisioned this and manifested this and worked for it a lot," Jimbo tells PEOPLE of her success

The most recent winner of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, 41, is currently touring her first solo show since she made history as the first International Queen to claim the crown (she entered the Drag Race universe on season 1 of Canada's Drag Race in 2020 and then competed on RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs the World  in 2022.)

Jimbo's Drag Circus World Tour sees the the Canadian comedic drag clown hilariously revisit many of the characters that have endeared her to Drag Race fans around the world: from her Snatch Game-winning interpretation of Shirley Temple — who she reimagines as a weed-smoking rapper — to her wild take on Joan Rivers that left RuPaul in stitches on All Stars. And as with any Jimbo performance, expect a lot of bologna courtesy of Casper the Friendly Ghost.

PEOPLE sat down with Jimbo backstage on Wednesday at New York City's The Town Hall before she performed her Circus show for a sold-out audience of adoring fans.

How is the tour going?

Jimbo: The tour has been amazing. A constant dream come true. It's been full houses every night, and just so much amazing energy and love and just excitement.

What's your main aim with your new show?

Jimbo: I just want to make people laugh. I want to really invite people in to see my point of view. And I love character work and there's been a few characters that really resonated with people on my time on Drag Race. And so I wanted to bring those characters that people loved on the show and then kind of give them another little environment to live in and give an audience a little bit more time with them. And so we did a little glow up on Shirley. It was an evolution in sort for all of the characters. So the intention is really just make people laugh, to blow people's minds, to push the expectations of a drag show and come to a solo show.

You were a clown artist long before your Drag Race days. What does it mean to share that art form with the masses?

Jimbo: It's amazing. And clowning is one of those things. It sort of informs a lot of what I do, and it's this magical thing that people sometimes, if you're familiar with clown, they know it. If you aren't familiar with clown, you're kind of watching going, there's something happening here that I really like. I don't know what it is. That's usually the clowning that people really identify with. It's really about being connected to your audience and really about serving your audience while making yourself laugh and get yourself off at the same time.

What's life been like since winning All Stars?

Jimbo: I basically am a workaholic and I am a dreamer and a storyteller. And those three things have combined in the most amazing way that has allowed me to dream big and to achieve those big dreams. So this win has been so incredible. I got to kind of share this win with fans around the world. There were so many people that were rooting for me. I get so many people saying that they connect with my art; they allow themselves to be a little bit more of themselves through seeing my work. So all of that is the product of this platform and winning that show and Mama Ru and Drag Race, and it's all just so incredible, just a dream.

Has your success caught you by surprise?

Jimbo: I've always kind of dreamed. I told my partner, Brady, I said, "I'm going to be a famous clown one day." I said, "I don't know how." I said, "I don't know where, but I will be a world-famous clown." He believed me. He did! He said, "Okay, we'll see what happens when that happens." So yeah, I definitely have envisioned this and manifested this and worked for it a lot.

You're a big-breasted queen. Have you ever considered releasing your own line of breastplates?

Jimbo: I was in talks with a factory, and then we had to put on the back burner because of everything going on with this.

Are you and RuPaul still in touch since your win?

Jimbo: We have been just missing each other, but I'm hoping that... I'm going to go to her book launch in Vancouver actually when she's there. So I'm hoping that I can wave at her and say hello.

What is RuPaul like off-camera?

Jimbo: I'd say she's very professional and kind and totally just a normal person that's just living their life doing their thing. She is very warm. I ran into her one time on the lot in just a flash second, and it was awesome. I love seeing Ru. But no, I would love to see Ru and hang out sometime.

You entered All Stars like a winner. What was your gameplan going in?

Jimbo: I was saying it was kind of like a drag university in a sense. I went and competed three competitions, three countries, three years. And each time I went, I learned something. I started out as a costume designer and production designer for film and theater. So my background was in organizing costumes and presenting groups of costuming, and so I had that in my back pocket. That really helped me. And I used that. And then I kind of took the critiques. I fixed my makeup. I went back and looked on my performance, and each time I went back, I tried to go back with a new point of view. This last time I went, I just wanted to have a good time. I just wanted to show my best and not get too wrapped up in going psychotic and just enjoy it. And that's what I did. I said I didn't come to race. I came to cruise and I cruised.
