“RuPaul's Drag Race” Star Sasha Colby Shares an Exclusive Look Behind Her 'Princess' Moment at the Emmys

Colby described her look as "Hollywood" and "regal" as she shared her exclusive getting ready diary with PEOPLE

For her major Emmys moment, RuPaul's Drag Race star Sasha Colby opted to show a "softer" side of her style.

"Usually for my drag, I like to do a severe Sasha," she tells PEOPLE. "We thought it would be really nice to show a softer side of Sasha for this look."

The focal point of her red carpet look was a gorgeous Christian Siriano gown, which made Colby "feel like a princess."

"This dress in particular is actually an archival piece from Christian Siriano," Colby shares. "He handmade another gown option for me, but we actually decided on this archival piece from a few years back that's never been seen."

The star turned to her glam squad (Preston Menses on makeup, Ricky Fraser on hair and Laurel Thomson as her stylist) and even family members (cousin Tama is her personal assistant) to make her feel her best for the Emmys stage. (And it was a huge night: RuPaul’s Drag Race won the Emmy for best reality competition series for the fifth time in the show’s history!)

"I think it's so much fun to play dress up and have a good time on the red carpet," she says. "My red carpet style mantra is feel comfortable, feel confident, and own it."

"Glam time with my makeup artist and best friend, Preston Meneses, and hairstylist Ricky Fraser. We went for a clean, polished Old-Hollywood look."
