Katya Zamolodchikova is taking a break to focus on her recovery.

The RuPaul's Drag Race star — who goes by he/him pronouns out of drag — announced on Tuesday that he is checking into rehab, explaining he'd be going to an unnamed "institution" to address her longtime addiction to alcohol and drugs.

“There’s a saying for the active alcoholic or drug addict that the trajectory of the life course has three possible outcomes: A) jail, B) institutions or C) death,” Katya said in an emotional post. "Unfortunately, I find myself squarely and firmly and quite uncomfortably in the B camp right now."

"In an effort to make things good with you in the future, I’ve got to make things good for me right now," the drag queen said.

PEOPLE reached out to a rep for Katya for comment.

Her trip to rehab will mean the remaining dates of the Bald and the Beautiful Tour — the live show of Katya's hit podcast with fellow Drag Race legend Trixie Mattel — will have to be postponed.

The tour's website currently lists upcoming dates at the Taft Theatre in Cincinnati on May 9, the Murat Theatre at Old National Centre in Indianapolis on May 10, the Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque on Sep. 5 and at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center in Sacramento on Sep. 7.

“Rest assured that any rescheduled dates or potential loss of money will be rectified as swiftly and competently as possible," Katya said. "I gotta swiftly and competently rectify my ass right now. Thank you so much for your patience and compassion and I hope that you have a wonderful day."

As RuPaul's Drag Race fans know, Katya has long spoken out about her addiction issues, beginning with her first appearance on the franchise in 2009. He sought treatment in 2018, missing multiple episodes of The Trixie & Katya Show in the process (Drag Race winner Bob the Drag Queen stepped in, in her place).
