Some queens sashay away from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” into television past, while others, like Alyssa Edwards, shantay and stay on the scene as world-famous performers.

Despite failing to win the coveted “Drag Race” crown twice — with the shocking eliminations from Season 6 in 2014 and from the second season of “All Stars” in 2016 — the performer and choreographer from Mesquite,Texas, still went on to dominate popular culture and capture the hearts of her ever-growing list of fans around the world.

On Wednesday, the stage, screen and social media megastar returns to where it all started: New York City.

Edwards, who recently served as the “Vogue” guest for Madonna’s Celebration Tour in Dallas, said her “very first exposure to queer people” was in the Big Apple in the early ’80s — though, as she likes to point out, she’s “not old, just established.”

“I have a ‘guncle,’” the established entertainer told the Daily News, using a term that describes a gay uncle. “And for my graduation gift for high school, he took me to New York City. It was the very first time from Mesquite [and] being on an airplane,” she recalls, adding the trip would forever change her life.

“He took me to Gay Pride — it was my first gay event, when I really realized ‘I really am gay!’” she added, saying that’s the reason the city “will always hold a very special place” in her heart.

This week, Edwards is back in the city as part of her latest U.S. tour.

The Glitz & Giggles Tour, which kicked off in San Jose, Calif., earlier this month, has so far packed venues across the West Coast, the South and the Midwest. But now is the time for New Yorkers to enjoy Edwards’ tongue-popping universe of camp, humor and Texas glamour.

On Wednesday, the “Drag Race” fan favorite takes over Brooklyn’s 3 Dollar Bill in East Williamsburg with a deliciously interactive variety show that may or may not follow a predetermined format.

“There’s an idea of a script — but look, we’ve all seen me on TV with a script,” she said. “This [show] is just me, completely unhinged, combined with local talent.”

Unlike her 2022 North American tour, which saw Edwards telling her life story with “feathers, dancers and Ann Margaret vibes” while “feeling [her] Liza Minnelli fantasy” — the Glitz & Giggles show invites fans to celebrate the art of drag in a more intimate setting.

“I want to intertwine the world of comedy, drag, camp and Alyssa Edwards,” said the artist, who’s also known as Justin Johnson. She noted each of the tour’s 12 stops will feature “a talented cast of local entertainers.”

While the content of the show changes as often as she “change[s] wigs,” one song audiences can count on hearing is a lip-synch to “They Just Keep Moving the Line,” a number from the short-lived NBC show “Smash.”

“I feel like this song was written for me,” she said. “It has a camp feel to it [mixed with] Broadway,” a place hailed by Edwards as one of the city’s best features.

“I am a huge, huge city queer and Broadway is just for me,” she said. “I feel like — you know when Alice falls [into] Wonderland? That’s how I look at Broadway. I love to sit in shows and just watch, like a kid in a candy store.”

Tickets are already sold out for “Alyssa Edwards: Glitz & Giggles” at 3 Dollar Bill on April 17. The show will be hosted by “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 11 queen Shuga Cain with appearances by New York City-based drag performers Thee Suburbia, Jazmine and Show Ponii, winner of the 2023 Glam Award winner for best drag king.
