Gladiator II had its first test screening in Las Vegas, claims an industry insider, and apparently it was a huge hit with audiences.

Director Ridley Scott’s historical epic, the sequel to his 2000 original, was described as "thrilling" and "Oscar-worthy” in a report by World of Reel.

It comes in the wake of the debut trailer shown off behind-closed-doors at CinemaCon earlier in the month which, according to Variety, saw lead actor Paul Mescal “face off against a charging rhino, a horde of vicious baboons, and Pedro Pascal, among other threats to his chiseled physique.”

Scott introduced the CinemaCon trailer by saying, “It is possibly even more extraordinary than the first. [It] is well worth the wait.”

With the recent Las Vegas test screening going down a treat (again, according to rumors), Scott’s words seem to be right on the money.

Paramount still has yet to unveil official footage, but one Gladiator II star detailed an epic coliseum battle.

Gladiator II releases November 22, 2024.
