Rumer Willis Dishes on 'Awful' 'Gossip Girl' Audition
Rumer Willis was surprised to hear earlier this week that she originally was pitched to play Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl.
The CW’s casting director, David Rapaport, told BuzzFeed this week that the network recommended Willis to play the New York socialite on the hit series, but the role ultimately went to Blake Lively.
“You know, it was actually totally news to me,” Willis said about the revelation. “I felt like I did an awful audition back then. I was so young and it was, like, one of the first things I’d ever auditioned for."
Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s oldest daughter added, "My sisters and I were huge fans of the books — huge, huge fans — so I remember we were just so excited when they said they were doing a TV show."
All is well that ends well, though. Rumer went on to appear in a different CW show — 90210 — win Season 20 of Dancing With the Stars, and is currently headlining Chicago on Broadway.
