Ruby Modine Joins Horror Movie ‘Half to Death’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Ruby Modine, Charles Aitken and Rachel Matthews have joined Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard in the cast of the horror movie “Half to Death” from Blumhouse Production, Variety has learned exclusively.

Christopher Landon is directing from a script he co-wrote with Scott Lobdell. Jason Blum is producing for Blumhouse with Angela Mancuso and John Baldecchi executive producing.

Variety first reported last month that Rothe would star as a woman who must solve the mystery of her own murder before her chances run out.

Modine currently co-stars in the seventh season of Showtime’s series “Shameless.” She has also wrapped production on the indie horror feature “Central Park.” Earlier this year, she starred in and recorded music for the short film “Super Sex,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Aitken stars on “The Knick.” Matthews is making her feature film debut.

Landon and Blumhouse previously collaborated on the “Paranormal Activity” franchise. He recently directed “Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.”

Blumhouse’s “The Purge: Election Year” grossed over $117 million worldwide, becoming the highest grosser of the three films in the franchise. Its “Ouija: Origin of Evil” has grossed over $64 million worldwide.

Modine is repped by Rothman/Andres Entertainment. Aitken is repped by Gersh. Matthews is repped by Talentworks and Ellen Meyer Mamangement.
