Pop: Two decades after appearing on the second season of "American Idol," winner Ruben Studdard and runner-up Clay Aiken are reunited and performing together. The singers will perform on Saturday at the McCallum Theatre. Over 38 million viewers watched the finale to hear the results of more than 124 million votes and it was the most-watched episode of the show in its history.

Studdard's 2003 album "Soulful" and Aiken's "Measure Of A Man" were both released months after the show ended. Studdard's sold over a million copies and Aiken moved two million. Both have sold eight million albums worldwide, toured the country 14 times, starred together on Broadway, won four Billboard Music Awards, an American Music Award and have been nominated for two Grammy Awards.

Rock: What is "math rock?" It's a genre of alternative music featuring complex rhythm structures and extended chords, which has been been perfected by bands such as The Mars Volta, Foals and The Dillinger Escape Plan. The Pennsylvania band Algernon Cadwallader also features math rock in its music, and in 2022, the group reunited after disbanding a decade earlier. They're performing on Thursday at Pappy and Harriet's.

New wave: Echo & the Bunnymen have a peculiar name, but are known for distinguished new wave songs such as "Bring On The Dancing Horses," "The Cutter," "Nothing Lasts Forever" and the haunting number "The Killing Moon." Even though frontman Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant are the only remaining founding members, the band is still known to put on stunning live shows.

Echo & the Bunnymen will perform on Friday at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa in Rancho Mirage.

R&B: During the '60s, singer Dionne Warwick performed songs with an R&B sound fused with gospel and soul that contributed to the vibrant contrast of pop music compared to the rising prominence of rock 'n' roll at the time. Songs such as "Do You Know The Way To San Jose?" "I Say A Little Prayer," "I'll Never Fall In Love With You" and "This Girl's In Love With You" are still memorable and recognized in the modern era.

In recent years, Warwick has gone viral on X, formerly known as Twitter. One of her popular posts was to rapper and singer The Weeknd about his name asking, “Why? It’s not even spelled correctly." She received an entry on The Walk of Stars Palm Springs in 2021.

Warwick will perform Friday at Morongo Casino Resort and Spa.
