Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga Releases New Capsule as Kanye West Wages ‘War’ With Gap
Ye might be ending things with Gap, but the brand is still releasing his clothing. The second part of YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga has just been released, delivering some long-awaited pieces teased since early 2022.
New to the YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga lineup are buzzy entries like a black version of Ye’s Round Jacket, hooded work overalls, and other all-black winter outerwear. Fans of Kanye’s design work also get some essentials, such as long-sleeve tees, sweat pants, and hoodies.

YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga Part 2
For the first time ever, YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga will also go global with the new “Part 2” collection. On September 23 and September 26, flagship stores in Tokyo and Shanghai will be outfitted with the collaboration’s signature utilitarian look.
Dubbed a “creative exploration” between Ye, Gap, and Balenciaga Creative Director Demna Gvasalia, YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga released its first capsule in February of this year, followed by another drop in May. Like the previous YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga releases, this one is accompanied by a futuristic, experimental campaign. Created by Raphael Bliss and Betsy Johnson, the new campaign for Part 2 sees Grand Theft Auto-inspired photos and a video with YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga-clad characters on a video game-style mission through the streets of Japan.
Of course, the release of YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga Part 2 comes with an elephant in the room: Ye is currently going through a publicized breakup with Gap, after saying the company failed to implement his plans for storefront openings. Now, West is looking to create a standalone label, although his contract with Gap could prove to be a roadblock.
Despite Kanye’s impending legal war against Gap — and Gvasalia’s departure from the project — further YEEZY GAP Engineered by Balenciaga drops could still be released down the road. But there’s no word on whether or not these potential further capsules are even designed by Ye and Gvasalia. Plus, given Ye’s strict non-compete contract with Gap, this could be the last true Ye design work we see for a while.
