RRT invites community to 'Love ... or Best Offer'

Apr. 26—Community members looking for a laugh this weekend can head over to the Ruby Theatre for a rom-com-style play April 26-28.

The Robidoux Resident Theatre's comedic play is about people trying to online date after the age of 50. Director Cheryl Wood said everyone in the community is invited to come out and enjoy this show, even if they aren't older than 50.

"The tagline for 'Love ... or Best Offer' is 'the trials and tribulations of online dating for the over-50 generation,'" Wood said. "And we get to see people that are very smart, very, very wise, but they're getting back into the dating scene because of either being a widow or somebody who just doesn't seem to know how to get a right date. But it's a lot of fun and it really is for any age group, not just the over 50."

Wood said she had a great time putting this show together.

"It has been wonderful," Wood said. "This has been just the best experience because the people that I'm working with are experienced and they are focused. They come prepared. We've done a lot of collaboration. It's not just been my show, but we'll toss out ideas and we've laughed a lot. And so I think the audience will see that kind of commodore when they come to see the cast on stage."

Dinner, drinks and dessert will also be served at the performances. The dinner will include pulled pork with house-made bourbon BBQ sauce and beef medallions with demi glacé, along with multiple sides and strawberry shortcake for dessert. The show drink is a cherry limeade cocktail, and non-alcoholic cherry limeades are available as well.

"Love ... or Best Offer" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 at the Ruby Theatre, 615 S. 10th St.

Dinner will be served on Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Ticket prices range from $22 to $42 and can be purchased at rrtstjoe.org.
