Here are the touching tributes to Princess Diana during Harry and Meghan's wedding

From Meghan Markle’s fairy-tale-inspired Givenchy gown to the couple’s first kiss on the steps of St. George’s Chapel, the royal wedding was a tearjerking affair.

And, as widely speculated before the emotional ceremony, there were numerous ways in which Princess Diana was also remembered on the day.

Markle’s spring bouquet featured her favorite flowers, forget-me-nots, among scented sweet peas and sprigs of myrtle. Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Jane Fellowes, also gave a touching reading at the ceremony.

“My beloved speaks and says to me: ‘Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone,'” Fellowes told those at St. George’s Chapel, reading an excerpt from the Song of Solomon.

“Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is as strong as death, passion fierce as the grave.”

The hymn ‘Guide Me, O Thy Great Redeemer’, which was sung at Princess Diana’s funeral in 1997, also featured during the service.

And there was another nod as the newlyweds left Windsor Castle to go to their Frogmore House reception and Meghan’s could be seen wearing a ring from Diana’s personal collection.

The aquamarine cocktail ring is emerald-cut, surrounded by small solitaire diamonds, and set in 24 carat yellow gold with a pale blue central jewel.

The ring – which was created by Asprey in 1997 – was worn by Diana a couple of times in her life, most notably at an auction of her dresses at Christie’s, London, in 1997.

Prince Harry has said in that past that he thinks his new bride and his late mother would have been “thick as thieves”.
