The Sussexes and the Cambridges have officially split their royal households, the palace announced on Thursday.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have broken their joint court off from Kate Middleton and Prince William's at Kensington Palace, meaning they've officially split their teams and created two separate offices. News of the planned split first broke in November.

"This long-planned move will ensure that permanent support arrangements for the Duke and Duchess's work are in place as they start their family and move to their official residence at Frogmore Cottage," the palace's statement said.

Meghan and Harry made waves last fall when it was revealed that they were forgoing a larger residence at Kensington Palace, where Kate and William live with their three children, to move to Frogmore Cottage inside Windsor Castle just outside of London. Their office will now be located inside Buckingham Palace.

Both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles approved of the move, which comes as Harry and Meghan continue to gear up for their first child, which is due in late April. Duchess Meghan is reportedly done with her official pre-baby royal engagements and isn't expected to step out in the coming weeks.

The palace also announced an overhaul of the couple's communications staff, which included the appointment of Jason Knauf as Senior Advisor to William and Kate, as well as former senior advisor for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign Sara Latham, who will run communications for Harry and Meghan.
