Royal Headache Break Up

After two albums, the Sydney band are no more

Royal Headache have called it a day. The Sydney, Australia rock band have announced their break up in a Facebook post that says “2008-2017.” The band’s representatives confirmed to Pitchfork that they quietly broke up after their tour ended last year.

Tim “Shogun” Wall, Lawrence “Law” Hall, Chris “Shortty” Shortt, and Joe Sukit released a pair of Royal Headache albums in their nine-year run as a band: their 2011 self-titled album and the follow-up, 2015’s High. Between the two albums, they released the “Stand and Stare” single on Matador Records in 2013.

It actually isn’t the first time the band announced a breakup. Shogun gave an interview in 2014 where he talked about breaking up the band, but he walked those comments back soon after. “I tend to get a big mouth in interviews,” he told Billboard in 2015. “I can't fully remember why I left, but there was a lot of shit raining from the sky and I just felt like I wanted to get out.” He continued:

I need the guys in Royal Headache sometimes. They're a bit less erratic than I am and I need them to help me get my shit together. My life always goes a little bit awry when I'm away from Royal Headache. I think I have to realize, for better or worse, they're like these weird sort of guardian angels.
