Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have always had an affinity for the designer brand Dior, and it’s not a sudden interest for them. They’ve been spotted in stunning pieces from the haute couture fashion house even during their royal years. Their loyalty to Dior brought about a rumor in June that Meghan was going to be the face of their new campaign. Now, the royal family’s interest in Dior is being called a slam against the Sussexes by the British tabloids. Is there any truth to this story?

According to the U.K.’s Express, Harry and Meghan feel like they are being blocked from certain brand deals by the royal family — it’s a palace conspiracy against them. “There’s a general feeling that there has been a vendetta waged against them,” an insider claimed. “There have been talks held with high profile brands that didn’t lead to anything but should have done. Those brands then actively courted other members of the family.”

The insider points to the fact that Harry wore Dior to King Charles III’s coronation, and many fans will remember Meghan’s gorgeous cream-colored ensemble that she wore to Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. There were reports that the couple was “starting to build up their partnership with the fashion house,” but after that, the palace sources maintain that the fashion house courted Queen Camilla instead, who wore the brand during her France tour at the Palace of Versailles. And Meghan’s alleged Dior campaign went to Meg Bellamy, who just so happens to play Kate Middleton on the sixth season of The Crown.

The insider asserts this is “all very suspicious timing” and that’s why Harry and Meghan are working so hard to “repair the damage done to the Royal Family.” What doesn’t make sense in Express‘ report is that Dior would ever turn away an opportunity to work with Meghan. Any outfit she wears becomes a sold-out situation, it’s honestly good PR for the brand. There’s also never been any confirmation that she was up for the Dior campaign to begin with, so this assumption feels like a reach, especially if we see one of the Sussexes wearing the brand in the near future.
