Royal family member Thomas Kingston died from ‘catastrophic head injury’ at age 45

Thomas Kingston died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to an inquest into his death.

The royal family member, Lady Gabriella Windsor’s husband and Pippa Middleton’s ex-boyfriend, was found dead in Gloucestershire, England, on Sunday. He was 45.

According to the Telegraph, Kingston was at his parents’ home in the Cotswolds, where he was meeting his folks for lunch at the time of the incident.

A post on X from Sky News correspondent Dan Whitehead shared that the senior coroner for Gloucestershire said Kingston “was found in a locked outbuilding with a catastrophic head injury — a gun was found at the scene.”

“He had been visiting his parents house in the Cotswolds for lunch. Police were called to the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious,” read a follow-up post.

The senior coroner for Gloucestershire, Katy Skerrett, confirmed to People: “The cause of death given was traumatic wound to the head.”

The inquest has been adjourned to a later date.

Kingston’s sudden death was announced on Tuesday in a statement from his family.

“It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son and brother,” read a statement from Kingston’s family following his death.

“Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”

The late financier and Lady Gabriella had been married since May 2019.

Gabriella, 42, is the daughter of Prince Michael of Kent, the late Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin — the latter of whom attended Gabriella’s nuptials with her husband, Prince Phillip, before the monarch’s death in September 2022.

Thomas and Middleton, Kate Middleton’s sister, ended their romance in 2011 but remained close friends.

Buckingham Palace was also notified about the equity analyst’s passing and released a statement on Tuesday.

“The king and the queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family,” the memo read.

“In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.”
