It's Round 1 of the Pizza Playoff! Vote for your favorite pizzeria at the Jersey Shore

Editor's note: Due to a technical error, voting continued past the 11:59 p.m. deadline in the play-in round between Pasquale's Pizzeria in Wall and Zoni's Brooklyn Brick Coal Oven Pizzeria in Middletown. The actual results at the deadline had Zoni's winning 1,174 to 1,026. We regret the error and have taken steps to ensure it does not happen again.

Get ready, pizza fans. Our search for the Shore's best pie has begun.

We brought together 14 of our favorite pizzerias for our Pizza Playoff, then invited readers to decide on the final two to complete the bracket.

In Monmouth County, Pasquale's Pizzeria in Wall beat out Zoni's Brooklyn Brick Coal Oven Pizzeria in Middletown, 1,949 votes to 1,643 votes. In Ocean County, Anchor Inn in Ocean Gate bested Berkeley Township's Shady Rest Restaurant, 522 votes to 288 votes.

Now that our bracket is complete, the first round of voting begins. Place your votes through 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 1. Eight competitors will advance to the second round of voting, which begins on Wednesday, March 6.

Votes are limited to one per day. Be sure to get your friends and family to vote for your favorite by sharing the matchups on social media with #PizzaPlayoff.
