‘Roseanne’ Revival Premiere Sets More Ratings Records In Live+7 Viewing

The ratings records keep coming for the debut of ABC’s Roseanne revival last week. After setting a new record for the largest-ever total viewer Live+3 lift, the sitcom’s Season 10 opener has scored TV’s largest-ever Total Viewer L+7 increase for any single telecast on any network with a big +8.81 million viewer lift over its L+SD tally. That topped the previous high,+7.86 million gain for the 9/25/17 debut of ABC’s new drama The Good Doctor. After seven days of delayed viewing, the audience of the Roseanne premiere has grown to 27.26 million total viewers (from 18.45 million in Live+Same Day).

Among adults 18-49, the hourlong telecast jumped by +2.9 rating points in Live+7 to match the largest-ever playback increase for any single telecast on broadcast, tying the 11/23/11 broadcast of ABC’s Modern Family and the 12/17/15 airing of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory. After 7 days of playback, Roseanne‘s premiere 18-49 total stands at a 8.1 L+7 rating (from a 5.2 in L+SD).

With lifts of +8.81 million viewers and +2.9 rating points, Roseanne delivered the largest playback gains for any single telecast of the season so far in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, topping the L+7 increases of NBC’s post-Super Bowl broadcast of This is Us (+6.45 million and +2.3 rating points).

With 27.3 million viewers, Roseanne’s Season 10 debut built on its 9th season premiere more than 21 years ago (18.90 million on 9/17/96) by 44% in Total Viewers and its May 1997 finale by 64% (16.58 million on 5/20/97), attracting its largest overall audience since January 1995 (and outdrawing its last 90 telecasts).

This past Tuesday, Roseanne held will in its second week, retaining 87% of its premiere L+SD audience.
