When "Roseanne" returns to TV in March, it may reignite some uncomfortable family conversations -- but that's a good thing, according to the show's stars.

Roseanne Barr said Monday that her titular character is certainly a supporter of President Trump: "I've always attempted to portray a realistic portrait of the American people and of working class people," she said Monday, according to AP. "And in fact it was working class people who elected Trump."

She continued, “Half the country voted for him, half of them didn’t. It’s just realistic."

"Realistic" has long been the go-to descriptor for "Roseanne," which depicts a blue-collar Illinois couple living paycheck to paycheck while doing their best to provide for three children.

Returning cast member Sara Gilbert, who plays one of Roseanne's kids, said the show will allow for political discussion "in the context of a family ... It's a great opportunity to have a family divided by politics but is still filled with love. What a great thing to bring into this country right now," she said, noting that America is currently "divided."

Outside of her on-screen character, Roseanne said that while she supports the president, she's "not a Trump apologist. There are a lot of things he's said and done I don't agree with, like there's probably a lot of things Hillary Clinton has done and said that you don't agree with."
