Rose McGowan Subject of Arrest Warrant Related to Drug Charge

An arrest warrant has been issued for Rose McGowan as a result of a felony drug charge stemming from items left behind on a United flight arriving at Washington Dulles International Airport on Jan. 20.

According to the Associated Press, police reported that traces of narcotics were found on the items. Police have attempted to contact McGowan so she can appear in a Loudoun County, Va. court but she has not responded, leading to the issuance of the warrant. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department obtained the warrant on Feb. 1.

McGowan has become a leading feminist voice on Twitter after being named in a New York Times exposé as one of the women who settled sexual harassment suits with Harvey Weinstein. McGowan also told the New York Times that she had been offered $1 million by Weinstein in hush money if she signed a non-disclosure agreement just weeks before the report broke. The actress spoke at the Women’s Convention rally in Detroit on Friday, encouraging women to come forward with their stories of harassment.

McGowan tweeted about the incident Monday morning, writing, “Are they trying to silence me? There is a warrant out for my arrest in Virginia. What a load of HORSESH–.”

Variety has reached out to McGowan’s reps for comment.
