Rose McGowan says she was raped at 15 by a ‘very famous’ director

Rose McGowan has been appearing on seemingly every show (sometimes, to bewildering results) to promote her new book, Brave.

While at the 92nd Street Y talking to Ronan Farrow, who helped break the news about Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct, McGowan revealed she was allegedly raped by a “very famous” director, according to Vulture.

Previously, McGowan has claimed that she was raped by Weinstein (his rep has consistently denied he had any nonconsensual sex) and she inferred that the other abuser has a connection to the infamous producer. “He worked for my rapist and won Oscars,” she said.

She continued to recall the experience, which reportedly occurred when she was 15, saying, “He took me home, after he met me, and showed me a soft-porn movie he’d made for Showtime, under a different name, of course … And then he had sex with me. And then he left me next to Tropical in Silver Lake, standing on a street corner.”

McGowan added that she had previously considered it consensual, but now that she’s been able to process it following the numerous other sexual misconduct claims that have been coming, she would call it statutory rape.

Farrow said that McGowan had told him the director’s name in his reporting but that it had been off the record.
