Rose Marie, Star of ‘The Dick Van Dyke Show,’ Dies at 94
Rose Marie, the actress best known for her roles on “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “The Doris Day Show” and “Hollywood Squares,” died on Thursday at the age of 94.
Marie starred on the CBS comedy “The Dick Van Dyke Show” for five seasons, playing the quick-witted comedy writer Sally Rogers, a role for which she received three primetime Emmy nominations.
She was also known as a regular guest on the game show “Hollywood Squares,” having appeared on the original 1965 version as well as both syndicated revivals.

Born Rose Marie Mazetta on August 15 1923 in New York City, Marie got her start performing at the early age of 3 after she won a contest that took her to Atlantic City under the stage name Baby Rose Marie. She would go on to become a recurring guest on a number of radio programs of the time.
On Broadway, she co-starred opposite Phil Silvers in 1951’s “Top Banana,” which was later adapted into a film in 1954. In an interview last month, Marie revealed that every musical number she recorded for the film was cut from the final edit after she rebuffed one of the producer’s advances.
Marie’s other credits include “The Doris Day Show,” “International House,” “Big Broadcast of 1935,” “My Sister Eileen,” “S.W.A.T.,” “Wings” and “Suddenly Susan.”

Her film, radio and television career was documented in the 2017 documentary “Wait for Your Laugh” by director Jason Wise.
She is survived by her daughter, Georgiana Marie “Noopy,” and her son-in-law, Steven Rodrigues.
