Rosario Dawson Says Prince Called Her When She Was 19 With a Very Strange Request

Rosario Dawson stopped by Live With Kelly to talk about her new movie, Unforgettable. Her visit happened to fall on the one-year anniversary of Prince‘s death, and hosts Kelly Ripa and Van Jones asked Dawson about her friendship with the eccentric entertainer.

“He randomly called me when I was 19 years old,” Dawson said. “He had a way, I guess, because I was in Chicago shooting a movie, and he called me direct and said you’re a voice of a generation, said I want you to do this monologue I’ve written for my ‘1999’ remix album. You must come to Paisley Park.”

Things went about how you’d expect when someone like Prince is involved. He sent a limo with a white shag interior to pick up the young actress, asked her to jam out for him, and the rest is history.
