Rosanne Cash joins Kyle Meredith to chat about the 30th anniversary of The Wheel, the 1993 album that kicked off the second chapter of her career.

The singer-songwriter discusses the process of getting her masters back from Sony and how she originally wrote the album when her life was in complete upheaval. Cash goes on to discuss the scene of musicians she found in early ’90s New York, working with director Mary Lambert for the visuals, and filling out the anniversary tracklist with live sets from Austin City Limits and Columbia Record Hour. As for the present, the artist explains how she’s reimagining the songs for the upcoming “Reinventing The Wheel” tour.

Elsewhere, Cash talks singing with The National on “Crumble” off the band’s Laugh Track LP, as well as her plans to record another track with the band’s Matt Berninger. “I just adore Matt’s voice. He’s just got one of the sexiest voices on the radio today,” she says. “And I’m going to ask him to sing with me when I record this song that he and I wrote together that’s quite beautiful as well.”

She also divulges that she has contributed a cover of Lou Reed’s “Magician” for an upcoming tribute album.
