Ronda Rousey Filmed The Stitches Being Removed From Her Badly Damaged Hand

A Freak Accident

While filming the show 9-1-1, Ronda Rousey suffered from a pretty horrific freak accident that left her finger severed. While she was able to return to filming the next day, it was a pretty terrible incident.

"Freak accident, first take of the day a boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking (I know it sounds crazy, but I’m used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I’m supposed to) after a break in the action I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws."

Getting Those Stitches Out

In a new Instagram post, Rousey documented finally getting her stitches taken out. It seemed to be quite the ordeal, but Rousey truly is cool as a cucumber about the whole situation. When she described the initial wound, the level of chill is pretty amazing.

"I looked down and I was like, 'Oh.' I remember turning towards the director and being like, ‘You guys aren’t going to like this, but my finger is no longer attached to my finger."

On The Mend

This injury seems to be healing nicely and won't hinder her work on 9-1-1. As to when we'll see her on Wrestlemania again, that remains to be seen. While she is under contract until 2021, she explained that she wants to start a family with her husband Travis Brownie and hasn't been on the show since April.
