Florida Governor Ron DeSantis seems to be losing left and right. On top of being heckled at the Iowa State Fair over the weekend, DeSantis also appears to be losing stamina fighting Disney — but he has framing it like beating the media giant would be an easy win for the state of Florida.

“Where we are today, you know, we’ve basically moved on,” DeSantis said during an interview on CNBC’s Last Call. “They’re suing the state of Florida, they’re going to lose that lawsuit. So what I would say is, drop the lawsuit,” he explained when asked what he would say if Disney CEO Bob Iger were to hop on the phone with him.

For those who need a refresher, Disney vowed to help repeal the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, a piece of legislation passed in March 2022 that prohibits classroom instruction on sexual orientation or gender identity in Florida schools. In what appeared to be an overt power play, DeSantis then mounted an attack against Walt Disney World’s special tax district after Disney’s public callout of the legislation.

While DeSantis has been vocal about trying to deescalate the turmoil he started with Disney, he has been oddly quiet about the latest blow on his presidential campaign. On Tuesday, Emerson College released its New Hampshire 2024 poll, and it doesn’t bode well for DeSantis.

According to the poll, which surveyed 498 Republican primary voters, “Governor DeSantis no longer holds second place with double digits, instead has fallen to 8%.” Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has surpassed DeSantis with 9% of voters supporting his bid and only 8% supporting DeSantis.

Historically, a strong showing in New Hampshire has been critical for candidates as they push for additional fundraising and media coverage. This is extra bad news for DeSantis, whose numbers have been steadily dropping over the past few weeks and reports of fundraising difficulties arise.
