Rome Health’s nursing home names new administrator
Charles Lewis has joined Rome Health as the new administrator of the hospital’s 5-star nursing home on the third floor. The 80-bed Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) provides short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and respite care.
“I’m humbled and honored to be selected to join the team at Rome Health,” Lewis said. "I am ready to continue on the path that has resulted in this facility being the only 5-star facility in our area year after year. Tony Joseph and his team have proven themselves to be the standard that others measure themselves against. It’s my intention to support and help the residents and our colleagues every day.”
Lewis has been a licensed nursing home administrator for nearly 20 years, most recently serving as the administrator of Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville. Previously, he owned and operated the Lewis House in Westmoreland for over 20 years. He has a master’s degree in health services administration.

NBT Bank has announced promotions and expanded responsibilities for members of its Mohawk Valley leadership team, including Tricia Bushee, Alicia Brockway, Karen Williams and Mary Ann Hallak-Serwatka.
Bushee is being promoted to senior regional territory manager. She has played an expanding role in leading NBT retail banking efforts in the Mohawk Valley since joining the bank in 2017. In 2019, she advanced to the role of territory manager. She oversees all NBT Bank branch locations across the Mohawk Valley. A resident of New Hartford, Bushee studied business at Morrisville State College and is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Mohawk Valley. Active in the community, Bushee serves as the president of the Maria A Russo Neighborhood Center Institute Board.
Brockway is being promoted to business banking regional manager. In this role, she is responsible for management of the local Business Banking team, including mentoring, coaching and strategic insight to aid in growth. Brockway joined NBT in 2018 and has nearly 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, including positions in commercial and business banking leadership. Brockway received her bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Keuka College. She currently serves as a board member and executive committee member of the Herkimer College Foundation, a board member, treasurer and executive committee member of Arc Herkimer and a board member, officer and executive committee member of the Cedar Lake Golf Club.
In addition, Senior Commercial Banking Relationship Manager Karen Williams and Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager Mary Ann Hallak-Serwatka took on expanded roles in commercial banking management in late 2021.
Williams is now charged with leading the business development activities of NBT’s Mohawk Valley commercial banking team. She has more than 35 years of experience in banking in the Mohawk Valley. A graduate of Syracuse University, Karen resides in Rome and has remained active in the communities she serves throughout her tenure in banking.
Hallak-Serwatka has been employed by NBT Bank for 17 years and is now responsible for managing NBT’s Mohawk Valley commercial loan portfolio, including coordinating all related administrative activities and special projects. A resident of Utica, she holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Le Moyne College and an MBA in finance and accounting from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She was recognized as the 2016 Lender of the Year by Pursuit, formerly the New York Business Development Corporation.

Spectrum announced it has doubled the starting download speed of Spectrum Internet from 100 to 200 Mbps in Utica, part of the company’s commitment to offer 200 Mbps starting speeds in all markets in its 41-state service area in 2022 and complementing its Spectrum Internet Gig and Spectrum Internet Ultra plans, which are available virtually companywide. The HomeOwnershipCenter (HOC) has three Down Payment and Rehabilitation Assistance Programs available for first time home buyers purchasing in the City of Utica, Oneida County and Madison County. The City of Utica Down Payment Assistance Program is for first time home buyers looking to purchase within Utica city limits. This forgivable grant, of up to $7,200, provides down payment assistance only. The total grant amount is determined by the household’s income level, which must be at or below 80% of the Area’s Median Income (AMI) set by HUD. The Down Payment and Rehabilitation Assistance Programs are for first time home buyers purchasing in Oneida or Madison County. To qualify for the Oneida County program, the buyer’s gross income must be at or below 112% AMI. To qualify for the Madison county program, the buyer’s gross income must be at or below 137% AMI. Both of these grants offer up to $31,500 for down payment and housing rehabilitation. Applications will only be provided to those that complete Homebuyer Education and Financial Coaching.
