Romany Malco said that "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" changed his life. But after they wrapped filming, he pleaded with director Judd Apatow to cut all his scenes.
"I was begging Judd Apatow to cut me out of it. He was like, 'we can't, you're funny,'" Malco recently recalled to Yahoo Entertainment. Malco's concern was that his R-rated content would not be well-received by his family, specifically his mother, who is an ordained minister.
"I was literally afraid of what would happen when it came out and kind of surprised at how well received it was," he said.
Even more surprising, was how much his mother enjoyed the raunchy flick.
"My mother took all of her church friends to see it multiple times, [that] blew me away," he said.
