The Rolling Stones are back with Hackney Diamonds, their first new album in over 18 years, and to help them kick off their new era is none other than their recent collaborator, Lady Gaga, who joined the Brit rock legends on stage at their album release show in New York City on Thursday night. Watch video of the performance below.

Performing at an intimate club party several hours before Hackney Diamonds officially dropped, the Stones’ Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood delivered a seven-song set of tracks from the new album, including the lead single “Angry.” To close things out, Gaga hopped onstage for the encore: a live rendition of Consequence’s Song of the Week “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” which features contributions from Gaga and Stevie Wonder on the studio recording.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, others who were in attendance at the star-studded release show include: Daniel Craig, Chris Rock, Mary-Kate Olsen, Trevor Noah, Jimmy Fallon, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Taylor Hill, Rachel Weisz, Christie Brinkley, Ed Burns, Keegan-Michael Key, Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds, Minka Kelly, Christy Turlington and Questlove, the latter of which even provided DJ sets before and after the Stones’ performance.

In addition to the Hackney Diamonds tunes, the Stones played some older tracks, like “Tumbling Dice,” “Shattered,” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.”

Hackney Diamonds dropped on Friday, October 20th, and in addition to Gaga and Wonder’s appearances, includes contributions from the band’s late drummer Charlie Watts, their former bassist Bill Wyman, as well as Elton John, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and others. It’s the band’s first collection of new original songs since 2005’s A Bigger Bang.

In his review, Consequence’s Jonah Krueger noted that the record “might not be an album that’ll stand the test of time à la Exile on Main St. or Sticky Fingers,” but praised the band’s ability to “successfully keep the boat afloat for one more album, [which] in itself is a mini miracle.” Writing about the Gaga-featuring “Sweet Sounds of Heaven,” he supposed that it “might be the grandest swing The Rolling Stones have taken since the turn of the millennium.”
