Claudio Castagnoli defended the ROH World Championship at ROH Supercard of Honor.
At Ring of Honor’s first pay-per-view of 2023, ROH Supercard of Honor, Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston headlined the show. Castagnoli put the title on the line against “The Mad King”, some he has plenty of history which, as their feud dates back more than a decade.
In the buzzworthy bout, Kingston and Castagnoli threw everything they had at each other. Kingston shocked the champion by kicking out of the Neutralizer at one. Likewise, Kingston’s signature back fist didn’t keep Castagnoli down. In the end, Castagnoli and Kingston traded pin attempts, and Castagnoli won the exchange to clinch the three count.

After the match, Castagnoli’s Blackpool Combat Club stablemate Wheeler Yuta prepared to help him attack Kingston. Katsuyori Shibata, the man who beat Yuta to win the ROH Pure Championship earlier in the show, made the save, and the two duos squared off. Kingston then grabbed a microphone, cursed several times, and stated that he wouldn’t be going anywhere.
