Rod Stewart is continuing a family tradition with his two sons.

The "Maggie May" singer, 78, posed for a photo with wife Penny Lancaster, 52, and their two sons, 12-year-old Aiden and Alastair, 18. All three men dressed in traditional Scottish kilts for the family photo celebrating the new year.

"A dedication to my wonderful Scottish father #happynewyear @penny.lancaster @aidenstew_1888 @alastairwstewart," he captioned the shot.

Stewart is father to eight children: daughters Renee, 31, Ruby, 36, Kimberly, 44, and Sarah, 59, as well as sons Aiden, Alastair, Liam, 29, and Sean, 43.

In a November interview, the rock legend revealed his pride in his offspring as he discussed how he is “very lenient” he is with them.

“I don’t think I’m as strict with my kids as my mom and dad — especially my dad — were,” Stewart told Haute Living in an interview for the outlet's November 2023 cover story. “I’m very lenient with them. None have gotten into any serious trouble. A couple dabbled with drugs, but that’s all done now. I’m very proud of them all.”

Stewart also added that when he’s on the road he misses his family “so much,” and that his loved ones are “a wonderful luxury” when returns home.

During his interview with Haute Living, the iconic singer also revealed that his parents were supportive of his career in music.

“They were extremely cooperative with me,” he said and added that his father bought him his first guitar, even when Stewart wanted a model part for his train set instead.

“They said, ‘Go for it, son.’ Way back then, to be in a rock band was like, ‘What do you want to do that for?’ My dad was especially encouraging,” he explained.
