Rod Stewart is a proud papa!

In a new interview published on Thursday, the rock legend, 78, revealed his pride at his offspring as he discussed how he is “very lenient” with his eight children: daughters Sarah, 59, Kimberly, 44,  Ruby, 36, and Renee, 31, as well as sons Sean, 43, Liam, 29, Alastair Wallace, 17,  and Aiden Patrick, 12.

“I don’t think I’m as strict with my kids as my mom and dad — especially my dad — were,” Rod told Haute Living in an interview for the outlet's November 2023 cover story. “I’m very lenient with them. None have gotten into any serious trouble. A couple dabbled with drugs, but that’s all done now. I’m very proud of them all.”

Rod also added that when he’s on the road he misses his family “so much,” and that his loved ones are “a wonderful luxury” when returns home.

The “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You” singer shares his eldest child Sarah with his former partner Susannah Boffey and shares Kimberly and Sean with ex-wife Alana Stewart. He had his daughter Ruby with his ex-girlfriend Kelly Emberg and during his marriage to ex-wife Rachel Hunter, the former couple welcomed Renee and Liam. Rod then had sons Alastair and Aiden with his wife of 16 years, Penny Lancaster.

Back in August, Rod's son Sean celebrated his 43rd birthday in New York City with his father, having dinner to honor his special day with his father as well as wife Jody Weintraub.

Sean “wanted to spend some time with dad, who flew in from overseas," an insider told PEOPLE at the time. "They had a three-hour dinner at Carbone, ordering their signature pasta dishes and the table of five drank red wine and margaritas."

During his interview with Haute Living, the iconic singer also revealed that his own parents were supportive of his career in music.

“They were extremely cooperative with me,” he said and added that his father bought him his first guitar, even when Rod wanted a model part for his train set instead.

“They said, ‘Go for it, son.’ Way back then, to be in a rock band was like, ‘What do you want to do that for?’ My dad was especially encouraging,” he explained.

According to Haute Living, Rod already has eight grandchildren.

He celebrated the birth of two new grandchildren earlier this year after his daughter Ruby welcomed her son Otis with partner Jake Kalick on May 9. Meanwhile, Rod's son Liam welcomed his own son, Louie, with his girlfriend, Nicole, on May 12.
