What do Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Donald Trump have in common? They’ve both participated in WWE, and they both ran for president?

“The Rock” has joked about a possible run for the White House, but so far he has not launched an official 2020 campaign. But one fan has officially pushed Johnson closer to politics than he has ever been before.

A political committee called “Run the Rock 2020” has been registered with the Federal Elections Committee, according to Dave Levinthal, a senior political reporter for Public Integrity.

The Hill reported that the Kenton Tilford, a West Virginia resident, filed the political campaign form. Tilford told The Daily Mail that he created the committee because he believes the Rock “can deliver the leadership America needs,” and he hopes this group will help like-minded fans encourage The Rock to get serious about a run for the White House.

“While there has been significant discussion of the possibility of The Rock running for President, there is currently no avenue for supporters to channel their energies and get Mr. Johnson to notice the groundswell of support he has in the grassroots,” Tilford said to The Daily Mail.

A presidential discussion is not new for Johnson, and he joked in a June 2016 GQ cover story, that he wouldn’t rule out the possibility of running for president. He also announced a fake campaign with Tom Hanks in a May 2017 Saturday Night Live monologue, but, at the time, all of those comments seemed sarcastic.

“In the past, I never would have considered running for president, I didn’t think I was qualified at all,” Johnson joked during the monologue, “but now I’m actually worried that I’m too qualified.”

If this political campaign committee gains traction, however, the actor will have a new challenge on his hands, one that would put him against a fellow WWE man in a race for the nation’s highest office.
