Jul. 13—CADOTT — Soul Asylum was listed on the schedule for a 65-minute performance on Wednesday at Rock Fest, but either lead singer Dave Pirner didn't know that, or he was just having too much fun to stop.

Pirner led the 1990s alternative rock band through a full 90-minute set, ending after midnight into Thursday morning before a large crowd at Rock Fest to close out the first night of the annual event, going through hits like "Runaway Train" and "Black Gold," while mixing in several new tracks from their 2020 album, "Hurry Up and Wait."
