The Rock spoke about Colin Kaepernick possibly joining his ‘Xtreme Football League. According to X/Twitter user Dov Kleiman, his comments were made on Instagram after a social media user told the former wrestler that Kaep should be playing for the XFL.

“This is where Kap should play if he wants to prove he still can,” the user said. The athlete responded, alleging that talks with his camp did take place. However, he admitted that the business opportunity may not come to fruition. “We met with Kaep and his agents (whom I like a lot) earlier this year. Good meeting. [We] looked to create an opportunity for him, but I don’t think it’ll happen. We’ll see,” he said.

Kaepernick previously had talks with the XFL back in 2020, NPR reported. Unfortunately, the conversations fell through after then-league commissioner Oliver Luck said Kaep’s salary request was “exorbitant.”

“We spoke with his representative, and the salary requirements that were broached in that conversation were exorbitant and certainly out of our range,” Luck expressed. “We have some pretty significant salary restrictions, you know. We’re a start-up league, so we want to make sure that we can be fiscally responsible and fiscally prudent. And the salary requirements that some folks shared with us were in our case exorbitant, so we couldn’t go down that path.”

J. Cole recently shared Colin Kaepernick’s letter to the New York Jets asking for a shot on their roster. On Tuesday (Sept. 26), the Dreamville founder posted the lengthy note to his Instagram. Cole explained that he pleaded with Kaepernick to upload the document. In the letter, Colin says why the Jets should go with him as their quarterback.

“I asked Colin Kaepernick if I could share this letter with the world,” the GRAMMY award-winning emcee began. “He was reluctant. My argument was that I believe the people and all organizations should know the truth about how hard he works and how much he still wants to play. And always has. In the end, he agreed to let me.”

“I wish the New York Jets organization luck,” he added. “My boy Bas is a big ass fan so I saw the heartbreak of every Jets fan when Arod went down. Everyone from players, to coaches, to execs are feeling the pressure I’m sure. I hope y’all can turn it around, and I hope there’s a spot out there for my boy Kap. PEACE.”

The New York Jets ended up declining Colin Kaepernick’s offer. Instead, they signed eight-year veteran Trevor Siemian.
