Formed in 1973 in San Francisco by former members of Santana, the Steve Miller Band and Frumious Bandersnatch, Journey enjoyed its biggest commercial success between 1978 and 1987, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist. In 2005, their hit song "Don't Stop Believin' " reached No. 3 on iTunes downloads.

The group's seventh and most successful album, "Escape," reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and yielded another of their most popular singles, "Open Arms."

The 1983 follow-up album, "Frontiers," broadened the band's appeal in the United Kingdom, where it reached No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart. It was almost as successful in the U.S., where it scaled to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spawned several successful singles.

Originally a progressive rock band, the group redefined their sound by favoring pop arrangements on their fourth album, "Infinity."

Journey has produced 25 Gold and Platinum albums, in addition to the 18-time Platinum RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) Diamond Certified, Greatest Hits album, released in 1988.

According to the RIAA, Journey has sold 52 million albums in the U.S., making them the 11th-best selling band. Worldwide, their sales have reached over 100 million records, making them one of the world's best selling bands of all time.

Formed in Los Angeles in 1977, the rock band Toto combines elements of pop, rock, soul, funk, progressive rock, hard rock, rhythm-and-blues, and jazz.

The group, which has released 14 studio albums, has sold more than 40 million records worldwide. The band, which has garnered several Grammy Awards, was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.

In 1978, their self-named album brought the band to mainstream attention, but it was their fourth album, "Toto IV," released in 1982, that brought them global attention, with hits such as "Africa" and "Rosanna" — hits which helped Toto become one of the best selling music groups of their era.

As of 2023, the band has released 14 studio albums, eight live albums, one movie soundtrack (for "Dune" in 1984), and a number of compilation albums.
