Rochester got a treat Saturday as the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and Best Jazz Vocal Album when Samara Joy played two shows at Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music.

As showtime approached, the line for Joy's show stretched down Gibbs Street and wrapped around Barrett Alley to Swan Street.

The Jazz singer told the packed house at the 9 p.m. show that she was surprised by the line but loved the support.

The forecasted rain never came on the second day of the 2023 CGI Jazz Festival. As the sun shined down East Avenue, the crowd grew more prominent as the night went on, taking advantage of food truck favorites like Morgans Cereal Bar and Neno's Mexican.

The pinnacle of the night was the energized performance by St. Paul and the Broken Bones, who had everyone on their feet dancing and snapping their fingers along to the music as Saturday night was filled with good vibes and joyous music lovers.
