Rochester International Jazz Festival 2023 Day 3 sights and sounds

On day three of the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival there were plenty of shows, like Corner House and B.D. Lenz Group that were the places to be, as seen by standing room only, but the place to be if you didn't have a club pass was the City of Rochester Jazz Street Stage.

The free concerts at the Jazz Street Stage had something for everyone throughout the day with the different musical styles.

Listening to the high school bands were worth it if you took them in. Hilton High School and Fairport High School, had the crowd cheering loudly or up and dancing. Their music selection was lively, fun and energetic. Unfortunately, a sudden downpour came, and dampened the mood as well as soaking anyone unprepared and sending everyone towards awnings along Gibbs St. to take shelter from the rain.

But they didn't go away.

People still made their way to see the musicians they wanted to and had opportunities to see some at different times. Camille Thurman with the Darrell Green Quartet played two different times at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom as well as Mduduzo Makhathini who also played two different times at Kilbourn Hall.

And if you just came to take in a the sights, the sounds of Durham County Poets, who played later in the evening at the jazz street stage, drew people in with their music, packing the street and getting people up and dancing in front of the stage.
